Join the Malad Walking Challenge

Malad City Mayor, Joan Hawkins
Malad City Mayor, Joan Hawkins, has announced the first annual Malad City Walking Challenge to be held during the month of October to coincide with the statewide Mayor’s Walking Challenge sponsored by Blue Cross of Idaho Foundation.
For those interested in joining the challenge, Mayor Hawkins is asking that you use the attached QR Code, which will take you to the app ChallengeRunner where you sign up for the challenge. After you sign up, your name will automatically appear on the list.
This challenge will be on the Honor System. Because we are not requiring fitness trackers, we will be manually recording the steps. If you use a fitness tracker or other pedometer app, you can use the steps recorded by your tracker. For those of you that do not have a fitness tracker, you can use steps recorded on the Health App on your iPhone, or you can just manually count
your steps.
Mayor Hawkins has committed to walking 10,000 steps a day, or a total of 331,000 steps for the month of October. Each person can set their own number of steps, but the person with the highest number of steps (besides the Mayor) at the end of October will receive a traveling trophy and a Malad City tee shirt. We know that you will all be breaking down the door to win this great prize. At the same time, it will be a lot of fun!
As a disclaimer, this has not been attempted before, and Mayor Hawkins is not a tech wizard, so hopefully everything will run through the app as it should.
Join in the fun and walk for your health during the month of October! It’s a beautiful month for walking, and you will find that it relieves a lot of stress.
